Our favourite cafés in Prague
Ema Espresso Bar
Ema Espresso Bar There was one of the first cafés at Masaryk Station that we used to go to together. It was almost symbolic, really – we were just getting started with kamvpraze back then, and Ema was getting involved in the new wave of Prague’s coffee scene. It’s still one of those places where the coffee tastes exactly the way we like it best!
You can find Emu in four different places today – at Masaryčka, Palmovka, Karlín and Holešovice.
Mamacoffee
Mamacoffee also falls into a similar category. We used to go to “Mamáče” on Vodičková most often, and later to the one on Londýnská. To this day, we love their blue-and-white polka-dot and striped mugs, and we used to regularly buy their coffee to take home.
Mamacoffee has several branches in Prague. As well as the ones on Vodičkova and Londýnská, they also have cafés in Nusle, Podolí and Jiřák. In Hradčany, they run the Nezisk café, which donates to a different charity every month.
Coffee Room
It might be a bit of a cliché, but Coffee Room was our very first “Instagram café”. To this day, we still love popping in here for a coffee or brunch, which we can wholeheartedly recommend!
Over the years, Coffee Room has gradually expanded, and today, as well as the original branch on Korunní Street, you can also find it on Americká, Celetná and Osadní Streets.
Kavárna Kampus
Kavárna Kampus on the Hybernská Campus is a place we used to go to study whilst at university. It’s a cosy café in the city centre with excellent coffee, where you wouldn’t feel out of place spending two hours poring over your lecture notes or working on your laptop.
We also like the café for its lovely outdoor seating area. After your lessons, you can enjoy a draught beer or an ice cream here; what’s more, there are often all sorts of events held on campus.
Café Truhlárna
A must-visit stop on our typical Prague stroll, during which we walked through the Franciscan Gardens towards Národní Street. A small, charming café serving excellent coffee and matcha, right in the heart of the greenery.
A café looking for a name
The café looking for a name in Anděl is one of our all-time favourites. It’s a café with an interesting name, which also remembers the early days of kamvpraze and the time when we, too, were “looking for a name” for our project. We simply never get tired of this café! Over the years, we still haven’t managed to try their famous eggs Benedict, but we’ve heard they’re really worth it.
So these are our favourite spots. Cafés that are more to us than just a place to stop for a coffee. They’re part of our memories, our afternoons spent working, our laid-back weekends and our very first kamvpraze posts.
