How we choose the businesses we work with, and why it matters

You may have found yourself wondering, whilst browsing our website or Instagram: How do they actually choose which businesses to recommend? Do those businesses pay them? Do they only post sponsored content? These are fair questions. And that’s exactly why we’ve decided to be completely transparent about this.

The Kamvpraze is close to our hearts – but it’s also a lot of work

We run Kamvpraze in our spare time, as a project that we enjoy and find fulfilling. We both love Prague, good food, great coffee, and we enjoy discovering new places. But what started out as simply sharing tips with friends has gradually grown into something in which we invest a lot of time and money.

Visiting businesses costs money. Taking photos and filming videos requires high-quality equipment. The website, visual identity, tools such as Canva or CapCut… all of this comes at a cost. And on top of that, there are the hours spent editing, writing, planning content, replying to messages and so on. So yes, collaborations with our project are now on a paid basis. This helps us keep kamvpraze running and take it further. But – and this is crucial – it doesn’t mean we accept every collaboration that pays.

We’ll visit the place first. And only then will we make a decision.

For us, this is something we simply won’t compromise on. Before we share any partnership, we visit the establishment ourselves first. We soak up the atmosphere, observe the service, and sample the food and drink. We ask ourselves: Would we recommend this place to friends or family? Would we go there again?

If the answer is no, we won’t accept the collaboration. It’s as simple as that. We’ve had to turn down collaborations on several occasions.

One example of a collaboration we’re more than happy to be associated with is the family-run Nero Coffee & Brunch café in Invalidovna. A cosy, characterful café with brilliant owners – exactly the sort of place we want to write about. Or Holešovická tržnice, where we really enjoy their culinary events and where we love to pop in ourselves. And we could give plenty more examples like these – in fact, all the collaborations you see on our site.

What exactly do we look for when making a choice?

It’s not just about whether we enjoyed the food or not. We’re interested in the overall experience – how we feel in the venue, whether the staff are friendly, what the surroundings are like, and what the atmosphere is like. We look to see if the place pays attention to detail, if it has its own unique approach and something that sets it apart from the hundreds of similar places in Prague.

We focus mainly on cafés, bistros and restaurants, but also on patisseries, wine bars and bars – in short, places you’d head to with friends or your partner for a lovely afternoon or evening. Places that are well worth discovering.

Collaboration vs. organic recommendations – so how does it work?

Most of the content you’ll find on our site isn’t part of any paid partnership. We regularly visit all sorts of venues, try out new offerings and share tips simply because we’ve been impressed by a place and want to tell you about it. Prague’s food scene is rich and diverse – and that’s exactly what we’re trying to convey to you.

Paid partnerships are always clearly labelled. We never try to hide the fact that it’s a partnership – on the contrary, we’re proud of our partnerships and stand by them. We believe that transparency is the foundation of trust, and we do not want to jeopardise that trust with you under any circumstances.

Why does this matter to us?

Because kamvpraze isn’t just a website full of tips. It’s a project run by two girls who genuinely want to provide inspiration you can trust. We don’t want to be a mouthpiece for anyone who’s willing to pay. We want to provide inspiration you can rely on – whether you’re looking for a café for Saturday brunch, a place for a romantic dinner, or a tip on the best Czech cuisine in Prague.

And if you have any questions about how our partnerships work, or if you’re interested in anything else – just let us know, we’d be happy to answer them all 😊. Drop us a line!
